The GOD Of Cricket: Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar

Have you ever seen the God....? I have.... he opens batting for Indian cricket team......! Yes. This is the correct term to introduce a born talented cricketer who is still playing at the age of 36 with 20 years outstanding contribution to the game of cricket. I am feeling proud that I am his countryman. A master blaster, little master, great player, blah, blah, blah are the secondary suffixes but the real one is “The God Of Cricket Sir Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar”.

He is a man who made record of records. 1st cricketer to make double century in ODI, 1st cricketer to make 48 ODI and 51 Test cricket centuries, 1st cricketer to make 93 ODI half centuries, 1st cricketer to make 15200 test and 1811 ODI runs , oh my  god! I am tired to write each of his record but he is not. He is still playing at the age of 36 as like he is just 16.

Sir Sachin Tendulkar is no doubt a youth icon, an idol for lots of fans from all over the world. I think he is the only man in history of cricket to have broken and re-broken lots of records in his outstanding 20 year career. It’s really hard for any sportsman to achieve the level of success that he has achieved. He not only love to play cricket but also respect it. May be you know, but his father, died in 1999 when the time was the middle of Cricket World Cup ’99.

That was the shocking news for him, his team mates as well as for entire country. He flew back to India in the middle of the world cup, missing the match against Zimbabwe to attend the final rituals of his father.  Everyone was expecting a leave of 8-10 days from him but what a great player he is. He has a tremendous respect towards cricket. He returned to the crew within a week and in very next match against Kenya he banged with unbeaten 140 runs in just 110 deliveries.  Today the world is of T20, so nothing is new in 140 runs off 101 balls but 10 years back, such a bang was no doubt a feast for entire fans and his team mates. Since that day he dedicates his each century to his father by looking at sky and greet. He has been honored by Padma Vibhushan, India's second highest civilian award in 2008. He was also mentioned in the TIME magazine as "The greatest living exponent of his craft."

It was really a ridiculous when he recently accused by a political party when he answered “I am an Indian first and then a Maharashtrian” to a provocative question asked in press conference arranged in honor of his 20th career anniversary. He is a personality who always stayed away from controversies. Whenever any critic criticizes on his performance, he answers him by making a ton in very next match.

After all it’s not possible to write about the God in short. But I tried my level best to dedicate my feelings to My God. Go Sir go….. Entire nation is with you.
