Odds Favour Tendulkar to Score His 100th Century at SCG
Odds are in favour of Sachin Tendulkar, who has not scored a hundred since scoring his last international century 293 days and 19 innings earlier, to reach the milestone at the Sydney Cricket Ground during second Test against Australia.
Tendulkar scored his 99th international century in a World Cup game against South Africa in Nagpur on March 12.
His early dismissal during Melbourne Test means the master batsman is now in line to reach his 100th international hundred in the 100th Test played at the SCG, next week.
And with an average of 221.33 from four Tests at the venue, it will take a brave punter to bet against Tendulkar achieving the milestone in the second Test, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.
"You really think cosmos, the Almighty and the Hindu gods were going to allow him to score it anywhere but the Sydney Cricket Ground?" said SCG Trust chairman Rodney Cavalier.
"These things are pre-ordained long before your birth or [Arthur] Phillip's journey in 1788," he said.
With the tickets for day one still available, The SCG Trust bean counters were just as pleased as Peter Siddle when the Victorian dismissed Tendulkar for 32 yesterday.
"Indisputably it will cause the sale of tickets [to rise]," Cavalier said.
